Pinguicula primuliflora is warm temperature plant native to the Gulf coastal Plain of southeastern United States. P. primuliflora prefers very wet, to even flooded conditions in a mostly shade environment. Very short periods of dappled sun is warmly received, but protect from hot afternoon sun at all costs.
It grows well in a variety of media, including Sphagnum moss and the standard 1:1 Sphagnum peat moss and sharp propagating sand (or perlite) carnivorous plant mix. Pinguicula experts recommend pots with Sphagnum peat moss at the bottom and Sphagnum moss / perlite at the top.
This plant produces a very nice purple flower in spring.
